Free to cite, with credit

The LOADSTAR Number is one figure: the share of capacity requested in the seven U.S. ISO/RTO generation interconnection queues, in active requests of 50 MW and up, that shows an executed interconnection agreement in each operator’s own queue file. We read each file once a day.

It is a floor, not a forecast, and not a count of data centers. Generation and load are tracked separately, and we never add them together.

The LOADSTAR Number is free to cite under CC BY 4.0. You may quote it, republish it and build on it, including commercially, and you do not need to ask. Credit “LOADSTAR, index.loadstar.energy” and give the as-of date of the figure.

The license covers our reading and our figures, not the operators’ files. Source files belong to each operator and remain under each operator’s own terms. LOADSTAR is not affiliated with any grid operator.

The name LOADSTAR and the star mark identify this publication. Cite us freely, but do not present your work as ours or suggest that we endorse it.

The number describes what the operators’ files show on a given day. It is not investment, legal or siting advice, and it takes no view on any project or company. Decisions you make with it are yours. The operators’ files are the authority, and we encourage you to check them.
